Jean-Pierre Ménager

Jean-Pierre Ménager is a renowned French musician, composer, arranger and conductor, celebrated for his multifaceted talent and international career. Having travelled to more than 80 destinations, he has left his mark on the worlds of classical music, jazz, French chanson and theatre. Jean-Pierre discovered music very early, encouraged by a small diatonic accordion he received at the age of four. After extensive classical studies, crowned with several first prizes and the prestigious “ORTF Accordion Prize”, he broadened his skills to piano and other instruments. He then sailed around the globe as bandleader on the cruise liner Le Mermoz, a flagship of the Compagnie Paquet, sharing his art with passengers from all walks of life. As a musician, Jean-Pierre has performed and recorded with leading classical artists such as Maurice André and James Galway, as well as major figures of French theatre including Michel Leeb and Jean-Claude Brialy. His passion for jazz led him to work with artists such as François Jeanneau and musicians from the bands of Jermaine Jackson and George Duke. In the realm of French chanson, he has accompanied legends like Charles Dumont and Isabelle Aubret. Jean-Pierre is also deeply devoted to composition and orchestration. From his custom-built recording studio, he has written more than 650 works, spanning film scores, dance pieces, French songs, jazz and more. He has contributed to over 50 albums and created a wide range of jingles for FM radio. His ability to embrace and innovate across multiple styles is evident throughout his diverse catalogue. Most recently, Jean-Pierre launched a new show titled Une certaine histoire de France en chansons (“A Certain History of France in Songs”), offering a musical journey from the Paris Commune to the 1960s. This production highlights his gift for linking major historical moments with music, captivating audiences through sung stories and evocative melodies. With a life devoted to music and invaluable contributions to the global musical landscape, Jean-Pierre Ménager remains an iconic figure.
